After completing my epic trip through 15 countries over 5 months, I've finally found my way to the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia. As a coffee lover and food enthusiast, I've been busy exploring the local scene to find the best coffees, eateries, and things to do in this vibrant coastal city. I'm so excited to be here, and have had a busy time already, buying a car, organising things like Medicare, a QLD drivers licence, a new bank account, car insurance, joining the gym, and even joining Flybuys all within the first few days of arriving. Of course I've also been busy navigating my way around the city, finding the best coffee spots and places to visit, as well as enjoying the stunning weather, the beautiful beaches, and the endless retail offerings. I can't wait to get sorted with my own home again too - and do a bit more than just window shopping, to get it all set up again. It will also be nice to be able to welcome visitors from home to stay πŸ’•

The Perfect Cup of Coffee

For all the coffee aficionados out there, the Gold Coast does not disappoint. I discovered PROFILE - Coffee Co-Lab (@profile_coffee_colab) β€’ Instagram photos and videos located in Burleigh Heads. They boast the Gold Coasts largest range of specialty coffees, and they even host trainings! If you're looking for a beachside coffee experience, head over to The Salt Mill Currumbin - Full Menu, Reviews, Photos (cafeleader.com) in Currumbin. Their ocean views and delicious brews will leave you feeling refreshed and energized. Another clear favourite for me is bumbles cafe budds beach - Search (bing.com) - delicious food and gorgeous interior decor with separate 'zones' inside (great for small groups) - and plenty of room to sit outside and take in the water views across the street. Free parking outside and a cute little homewares/gift store next door make it the complete package for me. I also discovered Cotton Living (@cottonliving) β€’ Instagram photos and videos in Kirra Beach - omg.. this place takes the win for me so far.. great coffee, delicious fresh pastries and other offerings to eat, and the most gorgeous selection of homewares. I know I haven't even scratched the surface of the coffee scene in the GC, so this might have to be a monthly section on my blog..

A Gastronomic Adventure

When it comes to food, the Gold Coast offers a wide range of options to satisfy every palate. For a casual and delicious meal, I highly recommend checking out JUSTIN LANE ESTABLISHMENT (@justinlaneest) β€’ Instagram photos and videos in Burleigh Heads. Their wood-fired pizzas and relaxed vibe make it a local favorite. If you're in the mood for something more upscale, I've heard Little Truffle Dining Room (@littletruffle) β€’ Instagram photos and videos in Mermaid Beach is a must-visit, and I can't wait to try it - I just need a date πŸ™„. Their modern Australian cuisine and extensive wine list is said to be impressive. There are loads of little out of the way deli's and markets too. I've already been to the HOTA Markets - Goodwill Projects - on every Sunday morning. A great place to grab Sunday breakfast and coffee, and shop for fresh organic fruit, veg and eggs. Home - Brickworks (brickworksferryrd.com.au) in Southport have a cluster of furniture stores on the outside, then step inside to a collab of deli's, cafes, and other food and homewares stores. And Capri on Via Roma.. – Shopping & Dining is giving a Christmas vibe, with a dedicated Christmas store, an amazing deli with specialty goodies for the Christmas table, and some amazing eatiries inside, including 'Mercato' that offers waterfront dining.

Unforgettable Experiences

Aside from coffee and food, the Gold Coast has plenty of exciting activities to offer. If you're a nature lover, make sure to visit the Lamington National Park for breathtaking hikes and stunning views. For those seeking adventure, a visit to Surfers Paradise is a must. Whether you want to catch a wave or simply soak up the sun on the golden sand, this iconic beach destination has it all.

Another unique experience not to be missed is a visit to the Gold Coast Hinterland. Explore the charming mountain villages, indulge in local produce, and soak in the tranquility of the rainforest.

There's so much to see, do and eat here, that I get the feeling that living here is going to feel like I'm always on holiday.. even once I have to go back to work!
